Location notes
The site is at the southern end of Kirkcaldy, located on the East Coast Main Line. The housing scheme is built on the site of the former Seafield Colliery. The colliery was under the sea, with the shafts and buildings on the site. A railway yard also used to exist here, for coal movements.
The location is near the sea, and so can be quite chilly, even on a sunny day. The railway runs on an embankment, across from the housing scheme, on the main road. Kirkcaldy town centre is 5 minutes drive away, and 15-20 minutes walking time should be allowed for, if you do decide to walk.

Railway type and traffic
First Scotrail class 150, 156, 158 and 170s on express and Fife circle trains. East Coast HSTs and Virgin Voyagers.
Freight traffic is worked by DB Schenker class 66s, mainly coal workings to Longannet.

Environment
This location is near the coast, and so is quite chilly at times. The housing scheme is well lit, and there are no reported problems. Invertiel is nearby, and whilst this has a rough reputation, there is nothing to fear. Shooting after dark is impossible, due to the track being dark!
Road directions
From A90,/M90, come off at the Dalgety Bay junction, and then follow the signs for Kirkcaldy. Once in Kirkcaldy, you come to a roundabout, with B and Q ahead, turn right at this roundabout, and follow the road to the first roundabout. The location is ahead of you.
If coming from Kinghorn/Burntisland, just simply follow the signs for Kirkcaldy. You will then pass under a railway bridge and come to a roundabout. This is the location.

Parking
The housing scheme has a few lay-bys, but do remember to park courteously. An alternative is to park in the car park of B and Q, and then walk the 1/4 mile to the location.
Do not park in the disused bus depot; the depot closed in October 2004, but recently Stagecoach has begun to park vehicles there on an overnight only basis, suggesting the depot is being used again. A car and lorry park is located next to this location, but this is further away from the photo site.
Parking on the main road is not permitted. Also, on Raith Rovers FC match days, parking may be even harder.

Public transport
Stagecoach in Fife routes 6, 6A and 7 run past the location. There are bus stops nearby. All three routes serve Kirkcaldy town centre. Times are available by visiting Stage Coach bus - fife.

Amenities
The nearest public toilets are 1/2 a mile away, on the Esplanade, at the lorry park, next to the disused bus garage.
The only chip shops are burger vans, one in the lorry park, the other in the car park of B and Q. A petrol station is located in Pratt Street.
